That is really great news! He is a kindred spirit. I would love to talk to him again, now that I could ask him some more knowledgeable questions. I have their old email address, I'll give it a try. Bill p.s. Put a starter motor on it. Rollers are a pain, but please don't tell him I said that.

Amazing.
So, Paul - how did you come together with Bud and the machine?

Steve, I haven't been working much so I decided to find a new project! Did the usual ebay, forum searches, the add popped up on a wera classified( don't like the new format). There was little info given(no photo)so I fired off an email, got a photo and decided that I would buy it! I have a few more pics now that the deal is done and the bike is on it's way. It is a bit of a bastard child, but has all the right bits. The plan is see if it runs, clean it up and ride it, if it doesn't run or has issues, restore.

Looking forward to more photos with the bodywork off. I really think you scored with it. Hopefully 20 years in storage hasn't taken a toll. Bill

Well it made it home for Christmas! Seems like a long time ago posting that I bought this bike. I used a shipping company that deals only in bikes, great service! I must say that I was over the moon about what I saw when I spent some time going over the bike! After sitting for 20 years I expected to find more dried out rubber and such. Carb rubbers are soft and pliable, carbs were nice and clean. The tank looks different than the photos, it seems to be sculptured more, you can see it in the photo. Looks like less work to get it going again than expected! I had a look under the seat, the ignition is an Allison? coils are honda. Paul

That did take a while. I don't think I remember ever seeing a master cylinder reservoir cap safety wired before, maybe that was an AFM tech thing. Still wearing original F1 grips. Have fun with it. Bill

Got the tank and fairings off today, the lower needs a little tlc, the seat and upper are okay a few minor spots that won't take much. The tank has had some repair, it had about 2 litres of 20 year old fuel in it! I got rid of it and gave the tank a wash, it is out side airing out.... a little cold here today -12, the fresh air should help get rid of that horrible smell! Tomorrow should get the leak down done, that will be the decider of what happens next! I removed two plugs and slipped it into gear and gave the back wheel a spin.... lots of air rushing out, looked inside the pistons are clean and no muck on the valves from what i saw. I think Bud did a good job of putting it to sleep! Paul

Hello Paul , I seem to have realized that you're going to start your bike.
I realized that inside the fuel tank, there was still a very old gasoline.
You have checked the belts of distribution? If the straps of the old distribution are very likely to break, because they are so hardened by the long time that has passed.
Mine is just a tip, you definitely know these things.
Beautiful bike. Carlo.

Carlo, thanks for the reminder! I have ordered new belts and will not start the bike untill the belts are installed! I will be needing some footpegs from you! Which do you recommend? Paul

Started working on the tank today, sprayed it with blue dye and block sanded to find the many low spots. I took this photo after some work to show some of the progress, all it takes is time! Decided to redo the vent as it looked really bad! Paul
