What is the size of the seals?
There is a good seal place in Brisbane that I can ask for you, they only sell seals and O rings. Worth a try?

Everyone would thank you for the effort Graeme, but the problem is not the size, it is the design of the Forcella Italia (F1) fork. This seal is a combo dust cover/oil seal all-in-one, that fits inside the spinner ring on top of the stanchion. The dust cover seen on top is just part of the whole part, with most of it hidden inside the ring. Eventually we will need to post a photo so it is more evident. These forks were also made in a few 38 and 42mm versions, and I guess they have the same problem. MikeV

I'll differ with Mike a little. The size of the o.d. of the o.e.m. seal is a problem. A used o.e.m. seal has an o.d. of 52.7 - 52.8mm. The new aftermarket 40 x 52 seal o.d.'s measure 52.2 - 52.3. Not big, but makes all the difference in how it fits inside the black screw-on holder. The overall height of the o.e.m. seal is approx. 16.5mm. The used o.e.m. seal is on the left in the photo, and my experimental stack-up (Leak Proof #7234 and thinned down o.e.m. for wiper part) is on the right. It was hard to measure the Leak Proof seal o.d. because it has rubber ribs molded in the o.d.

p.s. Where is Mr. Mike (CrankyRoller tech expert) Weber when we need him?

The OEM seal is 52.8 OD x 40 ID x 16.5 High including the wiper? Correct?
Any makers code other that the Ducati numbers?
Can you post a clear high res. picture of the original?

What are you thinking Graeme, maybe getting some made? FYI, I have two n.o.s./o.e.m. (unused) fork seals that came with the two n.o.s. L/H fork slider assemblies I got from Ian last spring. I haven't removed them from the black holders, as they seem a little stuck in. They have been set aside for emergency use only...or possibly using one as a sample for getting more made. I wasn't going any further down that path until spring comes and I can take the F1 for a ride and see if the Leak Proof seals hold up. If that's what you had in mind, let me know.

Or, Lou and Steve - you guys were talking about getting some of our favorite special un-obtainum parts made, are these fork seals something you would consider?

Hello Bill,
I was going to the specialist seal place with as much information as I can give them and see what they say.
They do a lot of specialised seals for the mines and have all sorts of weird seals.
Are there any numbers on the original seals? or a makers name?

I haven't had the pleasure of owning these forks, so I'm trying to understand what they are.

Would it be possible to find a seal small od and make a thin sleeve to push in before the seal is installed?
I haven't gone mine apart yet, so i am going by what Bill has posted with photos.

Graeme, There are no names, numbers, or any identifying marks on this old seal. I will take more pictures of it in the a.m. and post them, or do you want me to email them? If they want to make some, an n.o.s. original is available for a sample part.

Paul, I was wondering about maybe an SKF Speedi-Sleeve type insert to modify the holder for available seals, or even some kind of plating to reduce the i.d., but went the Leak Proof trial way first.
