I really did not know where to post this question: So, does anyone here own or have used a No Mar motorcycle tire changer, and what do you think of it? How did things go. Some shops are just getting silly with the charges to mount and balance a tire. Thanks, MikeV

Hi Mike, never used it, but I do hate removing 40 year old slicks from a mag rim by hand! It looks pretty good and at least half the price of a pro changer. I'm curious to see any responses. Lou

I've never had one either......I am getting too old to fight with those tires. Its gotta be way better than doing it by hand. My biggest problem on old tires is breaking the beads. I change tires in my yard cuz the grass wont scratch up the rim when you wrestle with it, I've used my feet, tire irons, an unmounted vice, scissors jack.......I always wanted to have a nicely equipped garage but it never happened. Due to limited space and limited money I decided I would rather have the motorcycles instead of the tools.

I understand all of that Cal. Lou and i both have the needed-room problem - where will i put this when i need it, and where will it go while i don’t? And there is the issue of money.

But i have grown tired of asking surly owners if they would mount and balance my tires on clean rims, with no takeoffs, and being quoted $50 (CG) to $85 (local all-encompassing (all four now) Japanese bike dealer). Or the Harley dealer saying they won’t touch another brand. Or the KTM (dirty bikes and quads - hah hah) who still uses iron and spoons, i think. Plus, it is like scheduling a medical appointment now - drive them to the big city, leave them, and wait for the call. Only to get there a week later and find one has been mounted backwards - in spite of the RED arrows on the rotors and center of the rim! That kind of thing is why i bought my first set of wrenches 60 or so years ago. So i could adjust the timing on my Fiat 850 and make it run after the “tuneup” i had just paid the dealer a whopping $60 for. And i was poor then. There, got that off my chest.

I think i have just talked myself into getting one of these. I can still go to my friend’s well-equipped shop to press steering stems out of triple clamp lowers; he has a BIG hydraulic press! And i haven’t bought a mill, so……

A little tool story......a little off topic. You know your old when......a few years ago I am out in the garage working on something, don't remember what it was now. My son is over and he comes out is messing around. He says Dad you need a new drill. I look at him dumbfounded, why would you say that? This thing works great. He says you know they now make them cordless. Then when I thought about it, the old craftsman drill was about 45 years old, sheesh. Cordless would be kinda convenient. I got one for my birthday

I bought one of these a few years back. It works and stores well but a little pricey. Goes to the track with me.

Took the hit, and a Classic HD version is on the way. They were on sale so i could no longer procrastinate. First try will probably be putting some Metzelers on some 18-inch EPM rims for the NCR Pantah frame build. I will report back eventually. MikeV
