Does anybody have a Pantah crankshaft sitting on their bench or on a shelf doing nothing?
I'm hoping that somebody has such an item within easy reach, as I'd like to know what the length of the thing is.
Y'see I'm in the middle of constructing a wooden case to air-freight my Pantah engine bottom-half from UK to my place in Philippines. I already have a set of empty engine cases here, but the cases are completely EMPTY (no crank) and I know that the crank is at least a couple of inches wider than the cases, so please anyone, can you take a tape-ruler and tell me the total length of your Pantah crankshaft?

Hi Poison,

This crank is out of a 500 Pantah - overall length is 320mm.

I've attached some photos of the lengths of each end for you also.

Hope this helps.

Alex

Poison,
I keep this one on my fireplace mantel. The engine was still running after it broke. I get 318mm end to end.

Thanks for that Bill!

Y'see........even if your crank is now in two pieces it serves one final purpose - apart from decorating your lounge!

Has nobody suggested that you attempt a repair on your crank........maybe with superglue???

You're right, it's still doing good things. I think it's earned a nice retirement though. I still marvel at what it did on it's last ride. I felt something go at Loudon T5, and I backed off a little to try and figure out what it was. After another lap and a half, I pulled in. Bruce Meyers was handy, so he went out for a short lap, and figured it needed further checking. Needless to say we were very impressed when we tore it down.

My heartfelt thanks, Alex and Bill........... ;) ;) ;)

I now have my case ready and dissassembled ready to take to UK next month. Once I shoe-horn my engine into the box - and most other bits and pieces into another similarly-sized box - they'll be transported back to Philippines via the Balikbayan Box service. I'm expecting a total cost of about £120 - maybe a touch more than $ 160 all told.

I'll be happy to post the dimensions if other forumites wanty to make their OWN Pantah Shipping Boxes.......................... :D
