How unlucky I was when a local ducati store was closing out and I was very late getting to the closeout sale. One of the last unsold tires on the tire racK was a 160 60 16 Michelin for a blow out price of 89 bucks. Now in deep dark cool storage with the other full set I got when I heard they were in short supply.

While I was at the Vancouver Motorcycle show I managed to catch up with the Pirelli rep for a chat. But I guess some industry reps just dont get it. Of course asking for a future tire from Pirelli in 160/60/16 and 130/60/16 for the F1s and other such tyred Ducatis, He said it has been brought up in the past and its not going to happen. And this is why he just doesnt get it. His advice is to find some old Ninja or Gixxer at the wrecker and adapt the 17 inch wheels off that for my 87F1B which is currently in showcased in Robert Smiths Vintage Hall in the March Canadian Biker. Insulted, I left wondering how much he paid for his MBA.

GoldenTyre in Italy will produce a 130/60-ZR16 and a 160/60-ZR16 tyre in 2012 I'll give it a try when available.

Modern radial racing rubber is available in Japan in limited sizes for 16 and 18 inch rims. These tires would not suit stock F1 rims but wider race rims of the TT/F1 era. Reportedly enough racing demand for old style "superbike" rims caused Dunlop to respond. http://ridersnavi.com/catalogue/tyre/a12/index.html (Maybe we could get a proper interpretation from a Japanese forum member?) -Cranky-

16" fronts are not too much of a problem, (The Honda Fireblade ran 16" for years, ), it's the rears that are/were hard to get. That Golden tire looks alright.

Hi Corsa Would like to know who else has radial 16 inch race compound front tires? Do you have experience with any? -Cranky-

Hey, Cranky. I've run various Bridgstone 16" tires on my Honda Fireblade (CBR900RR to the guys in the good 'ol USofA), I haven't tried the latest version S10 tires but I have run the BT series tires in the 'Blade and they grip pretty well, not like slicks, but still grip well enough to scrape the footpegs around the track.

I think those BT Bridgestones seem to be a good fit. They have 16 and 18 inch tire sizes that seem to fit the TT's and F1's well. They are inexpensive and not all of us are running 100 plus horsepower machines. Considering that these bikes did really well with bias ply vintage tires these modern sticky radials should be good for most of us other that the 'super speed' guys. Lou
