The first 500's had Aluminium square tooth pulleys, but I'm not sure when they were replaced with steel.

Thanks for that Graeme! At least I know that I'm not going completely bananas! I think that as a solution to my problemette, I will convert to the round-tooth Monster belts. It seems that the Pantah-type square-tooth belts are not so easy to come by anyway.................

I am not sure either when round tooth steel pulleys were made available, during the 1985/6 season I do know of at least a couple of bikes that had big problems when they were fitted with round tooth belts on square pulleys !. These belts were supplied by a un-official UK Ducati spares agent, he claims that he bought his belts from a Ducati dealer in Bologna.

I'm sorry friends, I might have realized that you're looking for timing belts for distribution? With square teeth? I use this brand, I've never had problems, and are cheap in price. Sorry if I gave the wrong answer. I like to talk with you. Must you be patient, I have a lot of patience, I have 4 women in the house. HELP! Ciao a tutti !!!! carlo

I have just looked at my 1981 500SL Pantah workshop manual. The photographs show Alloy pulleys, I can remember being told by the Ducati race shop only to use Alloy ones. I believe that the production TT one's & two's came with Alloy ones. I do know that on one or two plastic pulleys the Alloy inserted centre part came loose. Pat.
