While we're sharing video links... I've had this one bookmarked for a while. If you can get past all the short-shorts (on the guys not the girls), it's worth a look and a listen... http://vimeo.com/7936218Scott

Scott,
That one is a classic! Consider it's all done on film with clunky camera equipment and it becomes a marvel. I am at a loss to comprehend the class structure since the machinery ranges so much. Have you accumulated a log of rider's names, some are instantly recognisable but who are the GSXR riders number 17 and 3 having the great old go? Tony Rutter absolutely was flying on a presumably much underpowered bike, I think I'll go have another watch of that one, my, oh my!

I was hoping that some of the people here in the group could help out with identifying the riders! I can pick out Rutter's #7 Duc and Dunlop with his yellow helmet and black stripe... other than that, I'm pretty lost. I did come across the finishing orders, but no bike numbers... (Dunlop won all 6 rounds that year!)

...and how 'bout all that run-off in the corners? My hands were sweating.

I spied Andy Mac with the bushy beard and ex F2 sidecar champ Derek Brindley lying flat out with a cup of tea and bearing a Walrus moustache on a TZ 350.

Now then Sam,
Do you remember sidecar racing in the seventies ? I used to go to Scarborough, Cadwell and Carnaby sometimes and had a pal who raced in the MCN Superbike Championship
Best race I saw was when Ron Haslam beat Sheene, Parrish, Grant, Ditchburn etc on Mal Carter's private Yam at Cadwell. He was 19,I think

He was 19,I think Hi a wee bit before my time I did not start racing sidecar untill 1989 used to go to Scarborough to do the "COCK O THE NORTH". We raced there my first year racing got a credible 5th place on the Saturday using a Colin Hopper built Armstrong CM36 (three Armstrong's in the top 5) we then headed off after the race over to the IOM for the Southern 100 came third in the first outing and snapped the crank when lying 2nd in the final race. Colin had popped over to see how we were getting on and in the pub I was asked how long I had been racing I told him it was my 5th time out, he took it I men't 5th year when I corrected him he informed me I should have held a National licence and not the qualifiers one which I held, I was none the wiser from then on Colin helped us out a lot. Scarborough was my favourite circuit never a dull moment.
