I've finally reached a point where I have enough parts to start re-assembling my '86 F1, so I thought I'd share a few pictures as she progresses:

Very nice work Clinton. Is it safe to assume you aren't planning to ride it in the rain?

This one's the first for my collection of older bikes - I plan for it to be my young fella's inheritance (he's only 4 right now). As soon as it's finished I'm looking at taking on either a bevel or possibly an early 851.

When your bike is over, you'll have to stick a sign that read:

Before viewing the pictures of my bike, make sure that the mask is on the TIG and well placed.

Danger flash!

Good work continues this way!

Hello Bill, I believe that with the rain, he will bring his bike in the living room!

I wanted to a restoration on this one, not so much a customisation. Every F1 I've ever seen over here has been modified at some point, and I wanted to build a bike that had some value to a collector. In saying this, I have used only NOS parts - which is the reason it's taken so long. As you'd know, finding some of this stuff is near on impossible.

Hi Clinton, I am always so impressed by the work done by people on this Forum and your F1 does not disapoint! Beautiful job, and I agree with your restoration philosophy, can't wait to see the finished product. I miss my F1, they are special. Lou

Is that a new headlamp? Where did you get it?

It is looking good!

Cheers,

Yes, the headlight is new. I got it from Stein-Dinse in Germany - not cheap, but my old one was totally cactus & it was the only one I've been able to find.
