I received my new clutch cover today, but I am not too sure how to remove the piston from the old one and reinstall it.
Thank you

Leave the bleeder screw in place, put the cover with the piston facing down on a nice heavy towel or cloth to absorb the piston as it comes out of the bore. Now use a compressed air blower with a rubber tip and push it against the banjo bolt hole and blow SLOWLY. It can shoot out dangerously if you are not careful. This is usually pretty quick and easy. Be careful not to blow old brake fluid all over the place, it is like paint remover! Hope this helps. Lou

I removed the piston today, with the air it was very easy ( only a small POP and it was out ) But the new cover is missing the groove for the O ring Both covers are the same size so may I bring the new cover to a machine shop to have a groove made on it. Thank you for your help Carl

I think I remember Lou mentioning one time that some of the variations had the o-ring groove in the piston. That might be easier for your machinist to chuck up and machine. Of course that means a different o-ring though. Bill

Right Bill, some have the O ring on the piston, some in the bore of the cover. Maybe Steve Munro/ Loudbike has some. What size is the bore of your cover? I will check my parts. Lou

Hi Carl
Before going to the machine shop, go to an automotive brake specialist if there is one handy to you and explore the possibility of putting a proper lip type seal in there. It will last much longer and not leak like the crappy 'O' ring. My F1 has a 26mm piston cover (very heavy clutch feel) and I managed to get a 1 inch lip seal to fit (fits on the piston with a slight bit of machining). Only required a bit of stretching to fit and has never leaked a drop of clutch fluid so far.
regards Hamish

The size of the piston and cover is 30mm, I can go to J Precision machine shop near Montreal they are very good and do all kind of stuff on Ducati motors. ( they did the heads on my motor ) But if I can have a piston with the Oring on it will be better.
Thank you

The groove has been done by the machine shop, I reinstalled the same O ring and it's a perfect fit. Eerything is working fine and no leaks. Thank you for the help Carl
