Mike,
is Ian referring to the shock that he just recently had listed on e-bay (the Monjuich unit), or is he talking in general?

Yup, Ian confirmed that this shock is of the "later type" fitted to Montjuich and possibly late model F1's. It is anyone's guess when the update took place...

The shock below differs in that it has a dial for adustable damping that is not on the earlier shock.

Another one - would anyone be able to post up a good close up photo of the rear brake rotor (fixed type - not floating), as I'm trying to work out what colour the centre was painted?

Gloss black. Rattle can will do.

Are you restoring? Do you you want a stock 1986-vintage rear shock? I have an excellent one with about 2,000 miles on it. Cheap. The plain-Jane version. MikeV

OK - next question.

Can anyone point me to a photo of the original grips used on the '86 F1 (P/N 067554800)? There seems to be many different ones available, but I dont know what the originals looked like.

My '87 F1B came with black grips not unlike these Renthal roadracing grips.

The black ones are hard, the soft are light gray, and the medium are, er, ahhh, medium gray... ;)

I just got some soft ones to put on mine.

I believe the originals were Verlicchi. I have never seen a set for sale. Often the right side will still be attached to a Verlicchi throttle; the left side seems to be "gone". MikeV

Here are the grips I took off my '86 B when I first went thru it, no reason to believe they aren't original. They have a very 1980's pure vinyl feel to them which I didn't care for. They look just like the ones on the Montjuich in the two page spread photo in the Aug. 1986 "Cycle World" article. There are also grip photos in the great "Near Crimes Of Passion" Feb. 1987 "Cycle" article. The grips have "Verlicchi" embossed on them. Hope this helps.

Thanks once again to everyone who posted. At least now I know what I'm looking for. I have the same problem with the battery rubber & strap - as mine are missing, I have no idea what the originals look like so it makes identifying any I come across a little difficult.
