Hi Ducati people, I was going through the shed library on the weekend and found this little gem. What I believe to be the greatest pantah engine bike ever to leave Australian shores and race at the famous Daytona Bott races. I think it got a 4th in 1988. Look at the bore and stroke figures. That’s a pete smith crank in there. I think I read somewhere that Pete made smaller cambelt pulleys because the engine was taller and they could use STD pantah belts and Arthur Davies owns and run the local Ducati shop near me. There are pics floating around on the net from a year or so ago and it looked in bad shape but hopefully it will be restored one day and we will hear it being angry... Bott was the greatest place for home built ingenuity with great minds getting together and building hot Ducatis. Boucher.

Hi, if I understand correctly, did he put a crankshaft with a longer stroke to increase the displacement? Quite right? If so, what kind of square toothed belts did he use? Are there any longer that I know of?
I hope not to bother with my questions, I help myself with a simultaneous translator, sorry.

Carlo, correct he made a longer stroke crankshaft. And made smaller diameter pulleys and used standard belts. Boucher.

That smaller pulley thing really has me wondering about all the other changes that had to be made! Is this the same bike that you had pictures of in a garage with a dirt floor that was completely neglected a while back? Lou

Hey guys, this is a picture of the bike at Daytona. That’s Arthur Davies standing with it. And the other ones are when it was rescued. What I’m hearing is it’s going to be refurbished into a runner. Fingers crossed it’s seen again around the track. Boucher.
