has anyone ever seen one with a hole like this?
i think it has twisted. it was quite hard to get out. not seized as such, just required quite a lot of force to turn.

I'd bet it was made that way. If you had twisted it that much the case threads have to be buggered and the hole[s] would have fracture lines on the edges. I know things are different down under but how do you work having to put things UP to sit on the workbench? Is everything upside down there?

Bill - it's only really a problem when we drop something.

i got a new strainer, and it was tight, but not as tight as the original. but i couldn't run a 22 x 1.5 tap through the case thread as it just wouldn't start. and i couldn't run a die over the strainer thread as the plastic strainer is bigger than the id of my die.
bit of a clusterfuck all round.

Maybe running those strainer threads under a softer wire wheel on a bench grinder for a while might make them screw in and out easier. Bill
