Almost everything done. Need to clear-coat some of the bodywork, and then install it. It cranks, has a lot of cold compression, shifts, produces spark, and pumps oil. Brakes and clutch work. Suspension goes up and down. Do not know if it puts out any volts to the battery yet. Maybe another week to find out. MikeV Attachment:

It seems it works. Somewhat surprised about that with the new (to me) ignition. And I would like to ask a few questions of others about that later. Full bodywork next week. MikeV Attachment:

It did fire up and run on the second or third hit of the button. There was a small seep at the petcock (plastic washers), a puddle of oil out the unique seal behind the alternator (similar but different, like the dry clutch cover seal), and although there is no tiny hole at the open end of the crank it slowly seeped out oil around the set screw in there. All resolved.
Finally, I found that the V cylinder was firing at 36 degrees BTDC, compared to about 31 on H cylinder. Equalled them at the 31, and it is happier. Oddly, it is willing to start with just a slight crack of the throttle and accelerate (in the garage), but it will not idle at all (unless held open at 2000 RPMs or so). Which raises the question; how can an engine fire with only a fixed 31 degree advance and no retarding at low RPMs? This is contrary to everything I have read or been told. This DYNA part was designed to go on a distributor with bob-weights to retard and advance as needed. I now know that it works (Super Pantah site and his comments on this site, Bill Swenson’s TT, and one of Huit’s bikes, as well as found on several photos of Pantah engines), but it still puzzles me. Yes, there are better systems, but at least it is up and running.
One thing I think might help is that it is dual-plugged, and I believe that really helps an engine at low RPMS. Especially those with the plug on one side and a big bump in the top of the piston.
Any comments?
MikeV
